Quilt A-Long

I gave myself the day off today, let's face it there is sooooo much food left over from yesterday that there is no need to cook!!

I know I am behind the times but I have only recently discovered "Crazy Mom Quilts" blog. The work Amanda Jean turns out is amazing and she is so prolific. I have been uhming and arhing over whether I should join in on her Quilt A-long project (after all they have completed 6 weeks) but today I just decided to go for it.

The project is recommended as a stash buster project, and I don't have much of a stash to speak of, so I used the Black and White fabrics I received in a Birthday FQ Swap. I used white as my "other" colour. I would have preferred to use white tone on tone, but I didn't have enough, and if I waited until I had some before starting, well, then it would never happen.

Anyway... I made all six blocks. My pinwheels leave a lot to be desired but, they are made and this quilt will be for ME and I don't care!!!!

Thanks so much for this project Amanda Jean, I look forward to the remaining installments!

Twas the night before Christmas........

Actually it IS Christmas, it is well past midnight and I am thinking of going to bed. The children are nestled all snug in their beds...... All presents are wrapped and under the tree. Santa has been..........
And he and Rudolph have eaten their supper. A glass of milk and some tiny teddy biscuits for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. Also on the place mat is the 'magic key' that usually hangs on the Christmas tree. See we don't have a chimney, so we have a special key, that makes it possible for Santa to get in......
To anyone in blog land that reads this post, I wish you and your families the merriest of Christmases. The world truly is getting smaller and I appreciate the friendships I have made.

Merry Christmas.

Christmas Gifts

Tonight I have finished the last of my homemade (or handmade if you prefer) Christmas Gifts. This journal is for an internet friend who has booked a trip to Paris for her 60th birthday in February 2008. She chose the 'name' for the trip.
It is a journal for her to use as a travel diary, or just to record her thoughts throughout the trip. I hope she likes it. Her favourite colours are blue and yellow.
Next is a scrapbooked frame for MIL with photos of DH, DD1 and DD2 taken on Fathers' Day this year. I know she will like this one! I have also included an envelope full of photos of the girls major events this year!! (Finally one I remembered to photograph). I have left the packaging around the edges as this one needs to be posted and I want as much padding as I can get!
I will do some baking for gifts just before Christmas but for now, I am done!

SCSS Thanks!!!

Great Excitement, I received my SCSS gift all the way from Norway!!! I though it was safe to open the package as I expected the gift inside would be all wrapped up. And it was.......

Red and gold paper, my favourite Christmas colours. Here it is safely under the tree..........

but not for long!! Did anyone really think I wouldn't open it?

Thank you so much May Britt. I got a gorgeous bag and matching pin cushion, stitchery patterns and thread and two cute little star buttons.

I only hope the recipient of my gift is as happy as I am. I know that it has reached its destination, but she is the strong type that can wait to open it!!!

Townsville

I returned yesterday from 3 night and 4 days in Townsville, Far North Queensland. My Aunt and Uncle live there and their granddaughter organised a joint 60th birthday party. My Uncle's birthday was back in November and my Aunt's is at the end of this month. Originally it was to be a surprise party but you know how these secrets get out!

I am sharing with you a photo of their cake, isn't it beautiful? To pretty to eat!

I scrapbooked them a frame and took heaps of photos at the party so I will send them copies and they can decide what they use in the frame. Of course I didn't take any photos of the frame though! Silly me.

I travelled with my nan and my mum and was so glad to have had the opportunity to go (thanks to my nan for that). There is no place like home, and it was my first trip away from my daughters and I found that hard!

I have LOTS of photos to bore you with over coming posts, but will spread them out a bit over the week.
