My Dad turned 80 today.....

Today is my Dad's 80th birthday. I had a small family party for him tonight at my place, with all his favourites - asian style chicken and pork, rice, stirfry vegetables and for dessert Chocolate Apple Pie (instead of birthday cake). The top photo is my dad (John) and my dog Tess. We are certain Tess is wishing him happy birthday!
The second photo is Dad and I or "Pa" to my daughters, his grandkids. Pa is a really no fuss kinda guy and he had the best time tonight, I am so happy. I made him an album full of photos from his life (mentioned this my last post) and he was so happy. Great day here.

Just to add to the greatness of the day, remember the baby quilt I made? Probably two posts ago, well baby came a little earlier than planned - today. No details, OR NAME, but HE and mum are doing well.

Mirror Lake

I took this photo at 4.45am this morning.......... Yes I was up that early! We had just had a heavy shower of rain and I was up shutting windows and covering the girls.

It was so still. The lake is reflecting the clouds in the sky. Pretty cool heh? Just wanted to share.

I have today finished a scrapbooked album for my dad who turns 80 on Tuesday. I am very pleased with it, and with me that I have finished days before the birthday!

Does anyone know how to set up an album on the side bar. There are 18 layouts in the album so rather than inflect them on you all here on my blog, I will put them on the side if I work out how.

Also while I am asking blogger questions. Does anyone know how to put a line through things I have listed on my to do list? I knew how to do it in html, but now that I have updated the template, I can't do it. Any help greatly appreciated......

Seeing as I have been late consistently the last few weeks I have made a concerted effort this week and hope I am getting in early! This weeks Scatterdays is the letter T - hot things, purple and clothing.

So firstly we have a hot cup of Tea, Chanel's Purple Teddy and Charlotte's Tennis Tshirt!! Easy this week.

A Baby Quilt

I changed the name of my blog recently from "Quilting in Paradise" to "Living in Paradise" as I didn't feel I had much to show quilty-wise! Well this past weekend I had the machine pedal to the metal and I made this baby quilt for one of the mum's at school. I know it is another snowball ninepatch but I happen to like them and they go together so easily.

This one was handed over on Sunday to a happy recipient. Baby (number 3 for her) is due in a few weeks.

The lady I am sending my gift to has requested that it be kept a surprise and I respect that.

This weeks Scatterdays is the letter H -human, soft things and toys.

I give you my HUBBY! He is human, soft (cuddly around the middle) and to the kids, a great toy! He is one of those fun daddy's and I am the mean mummy!

Playing catch up yet again... last weeks Scatterdays was the letter O - Breakfast, small things and shiny things.

So, not original but good old Uncle Toby's Oats, Olives (inside this very large jar) and my new ornaments to go on the tree this year.

Clouds.......

I was over at Chookyblue's blog and she has posted photos taken today of the storm clouds above their property. Well there is something brewing up above us too. I hope it means lots of rain for the parched south east.

Quilty Mail

Isn't quilty mail the best kind of mail to get?

The "Quilt Card' above is from Janet. I won that by leaving a comment regarding my mum and I. It is a greeting card with a pattern inside. Great idea.

Next is Myomi! Patti had a giveaway on her blog when she had a clean up and I was lucky enough to get Myomi. Myomi has some little pieces in her kimono, so maybe a cushion will be a place to start!

Playing catch up this week. Firstly LAST weeks Scatterdays was the letter J

Restaurant - Jimbo's fish and chips. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a restaurant, but you get grilled fish takeaway and as far as I am concerned it is not too bad!

Pointy things - Jodie's Pointer finger!!! I was at a loss on this one so when all else fails use your name as a fall back! Was actually DH's idea, I couldn't come up with anything.

Sport - Jogging. Tried to photograph DD1 jogging and it was just a blur. These are my joggers and I have jogged in them. Mostly walk these days though!
