SSCS Goodness (and sorry this post is so late)

I was so very lucky to receive my bundle of goodies from Diane Nagle of Peddlecar Quilts. My gifts included these decorations.....

some patterns Diane has created for P & B Textiles

Another of Diane's patterns, for a Christmas tree skirt

and this gorgeous apron. For years I have cooked in DH's "Daddy of the Year" BBQ apron so it is extra special to have one of my own! Very thoughtful Diane, I cook A LOT!

Now there was one more special extra in my parcel and that was the cutest strawberry pincushion you have ever seen, but I can't get the picture to load!

Thank you so much Diane.

I sent my SSCS parcel of goodies to Julie in the US.

A big thanks to the Chookster for all the time and effort she put in to make this the best swap.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Two more pencil rolls and a crayon roll. Some extra family coming Christmas Day this year so the two pencil rolls are for my cousin's daughter and son. The crayon roll is for DH's little god daughter. The slots for the crayons needed to be a little wider, but I still think it is cute. Especially with the crayon fabric. All 3 are getting an activity/colouring book as well.

Did the last of my Christmas gift shopping today. Only the food to be bought now.

Two more gifts to sew.

Three more sleeps!!

Thelma's Journal

I purchased Janelle Wind's "Thelma's Day Out" Bag and Journal Cover Pattern some time ago from Kerry in Nundle. Yesterday I made up the Journal Cover for the first time as a Christmas Gift for a dear friend (non blogger).

The pattern went together well. Shame about the sewing machine breakdown! Fortunately DH was on hand to save the day. Guess what I need to organise in the New Year - full Machine service, it has been awhile.

As it was getting later and later last night and I was getting more and more frustrated with hit and miss wonky and jumpy stitches I managed to sew the binding onto the inside so I have the hand stitching on the outside! I was over unpicking by then, so kept it as neat as I could.

I love it, so am sure the recipient will be happy.

Only four more sleeps....... (and how many more gifts to sew?)

Pencil Roll

After admiring the pencil rolls made by Bloom, I decided to give it a go myself. I don't have the stash to make the awesome rainbow background like her so I kept it simple with some Barbie prints, white homespun and some ribbon.

It contains one set of 12 colouring pencils and 2 lead pencils.

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out, especially for a first attempt.

Note to self - don't use a white background for coloured pencils again, what were you thinking!!

Fruit Salad

Yummy Yummy!!!

Christmas Party at DD2s school today...... (also reads bring a plate!)

I went the healthy route.
Always a dilemma....
Do you take something sickly sweet and be a star with the kids or do you take the healthy option and know that internally all the other mum's are thanking you?

Honey Mustard Heaven

Well I was running low on the essential ingredient - Rosie's honey mustard dressing until reinforcements arrived.

And it came with a new recipe idea. Honey Mustard Chicken.

Chicken breast fillet

Camembert Cheese,

Sun-dried tomato,

bacon rasher (I used prosciutto)

Rosie's Honey Mustard Dressing

Slice chicken open and stuff with a slice of cheese and tomato. Wrap bacon rasher around and secure with a toothpick. (no need for a toothpick when using prosciutto). Place in a casserole dish and baste well with Rosie's honey mustard dressing. Cook in a mod oven for 20mins until golden.

The Verdict? Very Nice! Very Rich, Very Indulgent. Real restaurant type food. Half a chicken breast would be enough.

Now for something a little different I served it with green and purple asparagus. I had never bought purple asparagus before. There was a note in with the purple to squeeze some lemon or drizzle some vinegar over before cooking.

I didn't.

They obviously advise that to preserve the purple colour! Oh well, it all came out looking green but it still tasted good.
