Star Quilt A-long Block 5

This was a challenging one!

I had hoped for two blocks tonight, but I am just so pleased with how this one turned out, I am going to stop for tonight and get my washing folded and sorted.

I haven't trimmed it up, but I am just so pleased with the way it came together.

Family Day.....

My three wise monkeys and I went up the mountain today for a change of scene. Chilly up there! But lovely to walk through the rain forest.

The sun warmed us as it shone through breaks in the canopy of trees.

We saw some bush turkeys, but they were too quick for me. These old logs of course stayed nice and still!! (wink)

Star Quilt A-long Block 1

Ok, so I am a little behind the times...... All 13 star blocks and the setting block instructions have been posted by Crazy Mom and I am just starting.... but some things can't be rushed.

This is actually block 3. Not sure how I came to start with that one but it doesn't matter.

So one down, lots to go!

Living in Paradise........

Sounds like a good name for a blog doesn't it!
DD1's school had their annual Beach-a-thon last week. Her year only had to walk 4km on a glorious winter day.

DD took this pic of me. Not to bad, considering I usually hate ALL photos of me! So to those of you in blogland who haven't "seen" me before, pleased to meet you!

This is a pic she took of her friends! (wink)

Sleep Over Post Six - Final

Well this is the last bag, this one only needed binding and handles. It is one of the first I started and the contrast colour doesn't meet exactly on the sides. I was going to unpick it, but you know what they say finished is better than perfect!

Here are my finished 3 cute little tote bags for the Sleep Over. The cushion covers just need backs but they will have to wait for another day.... I have promised the girls a trip to the park

Sleep Over Post Five

The morning after the night before!!

I got the second one cut out and made this morning. I am liking this one too. These cute little tote bags are so easy to put together and I am always happy with the out come. One day I may be brave enough to totally machine sew the binding, then the whole thing from start to finish (including cutting out the fabric) will only take 1.5 - 2 hours.

Two projects left from my goals of last night....... it is only lunch time.........

Sleep Over Post Four

I know, I was winding up, but DH was watching "Patriot Games" so after I finished the binding, I just get stitching and attached the handles by hand. Neat way to finish. I really like this one.

Sleep Over Post Three

Well I am almost finish. The handles are ready but I need to hand sew the binding around the top before I machine them on.

I was going to leave this and move on to cutting out number two. But I am tired and fearful of making mistakes.

I will bid goodnight to my fellow "sleep over" participants, say a HUGE thankyou to Fiona DragonFly for organising this. Please, please can we do it again?

I am off to join DH on the lounge and handsew the binding......

Over and out!

Sleep Over Post Two

Unfortunately they were frog stitch!

Now I am on the machine......

Sleep Over Post One

The photo above shows my over optimist plans for DragonFly-Craft's Sleep Over tonight. Front left is one little bag I have already cut out and front right is the fabrics chosen for another. I need these two bags finished this weekend. The almost finished bag back right has been in this almost finished state for some time but keeps getting bumped as other deadlines loom. Back left are two almost finished cushion covers for a friend of mine. Again they keep getting moved down the list for other projects.
But before I get started we need to eat dinner and then the girls need to go to bed. In the mean time I will sip on this!!!

DH cooked a BBQ tonight, yum. The weather here is perfect at the moment so he was outside BBQ-ing.

Will be back later with some progress (I hope!)

We interrupt this blogging break......

With a post!!

It has been 4 weeks since my last post. I hadn't intended to take a break, but life often gets in the way of things we want to do.

During that time we have had two weeks school holiday and have now been back at school a week.

Life is good.

No sewing has been going on here but I have joined up for tonight's "Sleep Over" with Dragonfly-crafts. Guess what I want to work on?

Yep some more little bags!
