When 12 Blocks become a Quilt Top

No the quilt isn't wearing sneakers! This weekend I trimed the blocks in navy, sashed them in cream and used the "keg" fabric for the corner stones. The inner border is brown with gold (like a tie print) and the outer border is browny/gold. I am so pleased with the way it turned out!

So is DH........

Tomorrow I hope to get to the quilt shop to buy some batting and on Wednesday I will shop for a sheet to use as the backing. I will look for something in blue to match the trim on the blocks as I will use the same fabric for the binding.

This is my first BIG quilt and I am so happy with how it is coming together!

Russ's Quilt

I have FINALLY finished 12 blocks for DH's quilt. I gave up on the BOM pattern in a magazine I originally started as it was too frustrating. There were errors, corrections, then errors in the corrections. As a beginner I found the instructions assumed you knew what you were doing and in most cases I had no idea! Instead I made the remainder of the blocks from the quilters cache.
Today I bought some more fabric to finish it off. Navy to trim the blocks and bind the quilt, brown with a bit of gold for the inner border and gold for the outer border.

Here is a piccy taken from the other end. (Please ignore my purple tablecloth - it has nothing to do with the finished project!)

Olivia's Quilt

Recently I posted a photo of my first Charity Quilt. Well that quilt was made from the left-overs of "Olivia's Quilt". Olivia is the daughter of our friends Gordie and Emma. Gordie and Russ have been great mates for many years and Gordie was Groomsman at our wedding and is Godfather to both of our daughters. Russ was Best Man at their wedding last year. Little Olivia was born 10 weeks premature, but it coming along great. We got up to see her on Sunday night and she is tiny, but gorgeous! This is her quilt, it has prettier charm squares and they are all different.

And a doll's one to match

Chanel will turn 2 on Wednesday and the girls have just started to fight over Charlotte's doll's cradle. I asked Charlotte what she would like to give Chanel for her birthday and she said a cradle like mine! I took her to buy one and they had one in Chanel's colour. Of course it meant another job for me to make the mattress, pillow and quilt. It was fun and much quicker than the kindy quilt! Of course Charlotte is asleep at this hour, but I know she will be pleased when she sees this in the morning. I had to promise to let her help wrap it.

Peek A Boo

Well it is just mauve gingham and fairy print fabric squares backed with polar fleece but now Chanel has a Kindy quilt like Charlotte's pink one. I think she is rather pleased with it...........

Strike another off June's list!

Paradise Lake

This is the view from the back of our house. We live on Paradise Lake, a man made lake. We face west and we can see the mountains beyond the homes on the other side of the lake. This photo was taken at lunch time and the lake was mirror still. It is normally still like this in the early morning. Today has been a perfect winters day. Blue skies, no clouds and 22 degrees celcius. Unfortunately we have spent the day 'spring' cleaning! DH out in the garden - cutting back a lot of the plants. He and DD1 have done two trips to the tip today and one yesterday. I have been cleaning out the girls wardrobes of clothes worn out and grown out of, and toys broken or not played with anymore. No sewing here this weekend.
