It doesn't rain it pours

Remember just last week I was complaining about the heat?

Ex Tropical Cyclone Oswald has been wreaking havoc here the past few days.

We are lucky and have had no damage from the winds.
The lake has broken it's banks but again we are lucky and under no flood threat.
It has come up once before, higher than this, but that was years ago and the girls don't remember it.
This time though the water is backing up into the lake from the river and that is a little unnerving.

Unfortunately the flood is much, much worse, further north, and unbelievably people who lost everything in the floods two years ago are under threat again.

The system is heading further south and down into NSW, hopefully they will get some good soaking rain in the bushfire areas.

the setting sun

I have a new lens......

well to be truthful I have had it since May!

It is extremely heavy.  Mr P bought it for me for our anniversary and honestly I thought it must be good for snapping motor sport and that is why he bought it for me...
(I know, I'm not very nice).

But then over the weekend, during all the storm activity I remembered the new lens.... (it doesn't fit in my camera bag with my other gear).

It has been a  long time since I have been into taking photos, but now, re-interest is stirring!
Lots of clouds in our area but no more storm activity since last weekend.  Bring it on I say, I want to take pics!

Stormy Skies

Wild weather over the south east this past weekend.

Thunder, lightening, hail stones.

Fortunately for us, all we got was some good soaking rain on Saturday night and some thunder and lightening.

Some brilliant skies though.  All within the space of less than an hour.

Wednesday Sunsets

It is supposed to be Wooleater Wednesday but Wooleater Sunday is working better for me.
So tranquil sunsets on a Wednesday are just the right medicine.
Another hump day over, and a downhill run into the weekend. Bring it on!

life on the lake

I know most of my posts are about my wooleater here on the blog, but most of my photos are still of sunset on the lake.

We sure have had some doozy storms of late, but at the end of the day the sun shines through. Jodie

the week that was

It has been a good week.

gorgeous days,
slower pace,
time to smell the roses as my mother would say.
(Although I don't grow roses.)
Lots of blue sky and pretty sunsets.

Bananas are $12/kg in the shops, lucky I have a stash in the freezer so banana muffins and banana smoothies were on the menu this week.

Rain is predicted tomorrow :(

5 years and 3 day ago......

.......I started blogging. I am not prolific at it that's for sure, I still haven't hit 400 posts. In fact I have long gaps in between posts when it starts to play on me that I haven't blogged for awhile.

I started this post on Valentines Day, my 5th Anniversary. I couldn't up load any photos then so I saved it as a Draft. I have since posted the photo over on Snappy Friends!

Since then I have changed this post many times. It started as a farewell to blogging (yes really!), then excuses for why I haven't been posting and now today I just want to share this morning's rainbows - can you see two?

Our lives have changed a lot from when I started this blog, as have my interests. I am not going anywhere, and I will pop in here when I can.

around here lately......

all of our days have looked the same....

like this!

now, lots of the state are flooded, and here it almost broke the bank, which is really unusual, but we are under no threat.

but, hang on a minute! suddenly and unexpectedly it stopped! the clouds parted and some light poked through.

the colours were wonderful

and kept changing.

but now it is all a memory.

more moody skies

I know, more lake shots.
but these are taken by chance in the afternoon,
and when I downloaded them,
the colours were so beautiful!
yep! rain still around in these parts :)

the silver lining......

they say every cloud has one.
the rain has been back, on and off.
but we are rewarded with these beautiful skies just as the sun is saying good bye.

I know this is my second 'lake' post of the week, but it is still my favourite landscape to shoot.

Out takes of a self portrait

Over on the Snappy Friends Blog we were set the Challenge to take a self
portrait. I am so far behind in our challenges I had no intention of
attempting this one.

The sunset and clouds were reflecting in the lake this afternoon so I
ventured out to take a pic.

as I was walking back inside, there I was reflected in the glass door.

hmmmmm, maybe this would work as a self portrait?

I should try and get one with my face showing

a bit far away, if I just zoom in a bit.....

oops, too high.

blurry,

a bit low.

almost!

there I am, shot 25, this will have to be the one!!

Lol. Pop over and see the others, some of them are very inventive!
