Wool Eater Wednesday, the last one for a while......

Well it is finished for now, and in use!

I completed 24 bands of colour which is 48 rounds of crochet.

I really believe it will look better if it finishes with a pink round of colours rather than the yellow/purple that it is at the moment.

Also another 4 bands of colour will give it a bit more length.

But for now, even though it is way too hot for this heavy crochet blanket, it is in use!  and that makes both of us very happy!

Yes, well.......

Hello, Happy New Year and all that!
I have just taken this photo out the back to show the clouds.  There is a chance it may rain today.  The temps are the lowest we have had in a while.
Nothing like the 40 degrees plus others parts of the country are getting but here it is the humidity that knocks us about.  Right now it is at 76%.  It has been up near 90% for too long.

So I have been holding off doing a post this year as I wanted my first one to be the final ta-dah! of Miss Paradise's wool eater.  I first posted about this on the 9th of January last year, and gave my first progress report on the 17th and I had no intention of not being finished more than a year later but there you go.  It has just been toooooooo hot.  The blue round that I am working on at the moment will be my last round for the time being.  It won't be as large as I want it to be but it is big enough for an eleven year old and frankly we are both sick of it.  Me working on it, and Miss P sick of it not being finished.  Fortunately it is the type of pattern that can be added to.

Due to the weather there has been very little crochet action about the place, but I did manage a small finish for my Nan for Christmas.  This tissue box cover pattern is a freebie from The Royal Sisters.   Want to hear a funny story about this?  I used a box of tissues we had here to 'model' it as I was making it.  Once complete I bought a new box of tissues and the new box was taller that the box we had here at home.  So at Nan's place you can see the box poking out the bottom!

Working with the same colours I used Lucy's tutorial to learn how to join-as-you-go.  This was just a practice piece but I plan to turn it into a cushion cover.  Everyone needs a cushion cover to match their tissue box don't they?  Speaking of my Nan, she is not too well at the moment so if you are the praying kind, please remember her in yours.

We are into the home stretch with school holidays, we go back Wednesday the 30th.
We have done the purchasing of the school shoes - ouch!
Time to stop putting off covering the school books.
Contact is my friend, Contact is my Friend, Contact is .........
I am dreading the trying on of uniforms.  They have false hems on them already, nothing left to let down.

Oh well, enjoy your day.

arghhhhhh

Hello!  How are you?  It has been awhile, I don't know where the time goes these days.
It has been awhile since I have been 'wooleating' but I pulled it out and really enjoyed working on it last night.  Until....... I discovered a mistake in the row before!  See the light pink right in the middle, sort of puffed out.  I have missed a cluney group!

I am not going to unravel the whole lot, but I will undo the dark pink and light pink around this mistake and do some creative repairs.  Just haven't worked out how, so it may sit for awhile longer.

Wool Eater Wednesday Update (on Thursday)

It is getting harder to photograph now, 17 rounds done.
the nights are a little cooler now, so it is nice to sit under it.
Miss P and I are both still happy with the progress.

Day One

I have 8 days of work. 8. days. in. a. row.

Excited!

Started day one off slowly with a coffee and some crochet in my jammies.

Nice feeling when I have normally been at my desk at work for almost an hour.

Since it is Wool Eater Wednesday I will take some update photos later in the day, just need to finish this round of pink. I am only ahem how many weeks behind?

Enjoy your day, Jodie

WoolEater Update

I am just a few clusters short of 15 bands of colour. That is 30 rounds.

It is getting more and more awkward to photograph!

But still a long way to go until it is the 'right' size.

I really love working on this project, I love that it is for Miss Paradise, and that she is so happy with how it is coming along.
But, this is ALL I am working on.

So what do you do?
When working on a long term project do you have some breaks in between and work on something smaller - some thing that will give some instant gratification? Right now I just feel it is so long to go until I will be done. But I also feel if I put it aside for something else, something smaller then am I wasting time I could be spending on this.

the definition of irony....

my least favourite colour in the CAL ........butter........

will be the first colour I run out of!

(not really I have already bought the next round of each colour)

(NB, all colours are really off in the bathroom light - except.... yep... you guessed it.... the butter!)

crochet is not a summer sport!

well not in my hot humid corner of the world!
still loving working on this wool eater project. Still not caught up - I am at 12.5 rows and it is approximately 60cm square, should be on 16 rows, with another 3 complete this Wednesday the 15th. Do I sound worried? Nup, I'm not.

Miss Paradise is still lovin' the colours - I am not totally sold on the 'butter', I expected it to blend in a bit more and be less dominate than it is.

We are already planning the accessories I will make to match.....Cushions, bunting, pen holders (crochet covered tins a la lucy) ..... we have already agreed this is her year, and Lil Sis will have next year. But I will start with the small stuff in the summer, and leave the blanket for the cooler months :)

wool eater wednesday

arghhhhhh, my pic didn't load last night - oh well it is still Wednesday!

(on a Tuesday night).
my first 6 rounds!

I am so pleased with how it is coming along.
I have made mistakes! I have pulled some out, and then others I have discovered too late and have had to improvise. I am not going to point them out, but I hope they aren't obvious. (Don't look toooooooo closely).

I am pleased with how the colours are coming together as well. The colours are pretty close except the dark pink looks red in all the photos. It is pouring with rain today and so hard to get a good shot. I guess the most important thing is the Miss Paradise is happy :)

on to the next 4 rounds!

Wool Eater Wednesday Week One (on a Thursday)

Not sure where this week has gone, it is Thursday already!
Miss Paradise and I have had a little shopping adventure and have chosen our colours..... light pink, dark pink, turquoise, mauve and butter.
I have had a practice and I know it is not perfect but I am getting the hang of it.
This is the year to finish things! "Finished is better than perfect" is my motto for 2012.
I am sticking with the square, rather than the oblong.

So it is all systems go here in Paradise.
We are on track for six rounds by next Wednesday!
All I need to do now is join the Flickr group.

Have a great week!

count me in!

crochet a rainbow was so last year, haha, (the second pic is of my blocks, I finally sent them in) this year I am joining in with the Wooleater CAL (crochet along).

It is sooooo stinkin' hot here and humid - summer has arrived! But I am going to do this. A Wool Eater for Miss Paradise. I have done a practice couple of rounds and I think I get it.... well I do get it, I just don't always get it right! haha.

It was back to work for me today, so this will be my reward! It has been awhile since I have finished anything..... so here's hoping.

See you with some sort of update on Wednesday
