Peace

December Photo a Day with FatMumSlim

I have cheated a bit with this one.  Today it is a struggle to find peace, it is hot and humid and we are all a bit frayed about the edges.  We were in the ornament isle, shopping for school buddy presents when I saw this sign.  I was about to buy it but silver is the wrong colour for our Christmas decorations.  So a quick snap with my phone and we have a little peace in our world!

Tell me why do sisters fight?
As an only child I just don't get it.
Individually they are both really nice girls, but to each other..... they can be so mean!

8 o'clock

December Photo a Day with FatMumSlim

Well, not sure how long I will last, I am notoriously bad with keeping up with things, but here we are on the 1st of December and day one of a photo a day.

I am also signed up for Journal Your Christmas, for the first time ever for me with Shimelle.  Not sure how that will go either, think the time difference will be a factor.  I don't like to put photos of my girls here, so the photos here will be edited, but we are getting in the Christmas spirit!  (Ironically this photo is straight off the camera, no editing!)

So hot here!  We got new Christmas lights today from Bunnings, and we put the tree up! Kicking back now in air conditioned comfort with Mr P cooking a BBQ.

Tomorrow's prompt is Peace - let's hope I find some!

ornament swap

My special group of internet friends held a Christmas Ornament Swap.

I made a Christmas Tree, a Star, and a Wreath.  These 3 patterns are from the Royal Sisters

Grandma Twinkle  (I added an extra point to my star)

Then for one member I made a banner of Chanuka Stars!

I used the Grandma Twinkle pattern along with this garland of stars pattern.  Again I added an extra point.

Shocking photography on the star banner, sorry about that!
These have all been received, next time I will show you what I got!

the setting sun

I have a new lens......

well to be truthful I have had it since May!

It is extremely heavy.  Mr P bought it for me for our anniversary and honestly I thought it must be good for snapping motor sport and that is why he bought it for me...
(I know, I'm not very nice).

But then over the weekend, during all the storm activity I remembered the new lens.... (it doesn't fit in my camera bag with my other gear).

It has been a  long time since I have been into taking photos, but now, re-interest is stirring!
Lots of clouds in our area but no more storm activity since last weekend.  Bring it on I say, I want to take pics!

Stormy Skies

Wild weather over the south east this past weekend.

Thunder, lightening, hail stones.

Fortunately for us, all we got was some good soaking rain on Saturday night and some thunder and lightening.

Some brilliant skies though.  All within the space of less than an hour.

pot stickers

I found myself home with just lil sis.  We just happened to have all the makings of some pot stickers that appeared on the kid spot website.  (Well truth be told we didn't have the wonton wrappers, but a quick dash to the supermarket after dropping miss paradise to her friends house and we soon did.)

They were delish!  They were rather labour intensive, but just having the time to work through the process was much of the enjoyment.  If you want to make some of your own here is the recipe.  Enjoy....

arghhhhhh

Hello!  How are you?  It has been awhile, I don't know where the time goes these days.
It has been awhile since I have been 'wooleating' but I pulled it out and really enjoyed working on it last night.  Until....... I discovered a mistake in the row before!  See the light pink right in the middle, sort of puffed out.  I have missed a cluney group!

I am not going to unravel the whole lot, but I will undo the dark pink and light pink around this mistake and do some creative repairs.  Just haven't worked out how, so it may sit for awhile longer.

Wool Eater Wednesday Update (on Thursday)

It is getting harder to photograph now, 17 rounds done.
the nights are a little cooler now, so it is nice to sit under it.
Miss P and I are both still happy with the progress.

Day One

I have 8 days of work. 8. days. in. a. row.

Excited!

Started day one off slowly with a coffee and some crochet in my jammies.

Nice feeling when I have normally been at my desk at work for almost an hour.

Since it is Wool Eater Wednesday I will take some update photos later in the day, just need to finish this round of pink. I am only ahem how many weeks behind?

Enjoy your day, Jodie

Wednesday Sunsets

It is supposed to be Wooleater Wednesday but Wooleater Sunday is working better for me.
So tranquil sunsets on a Wednesday are just the right medicine.
Another hump day over, and a downhill run into the weekend. Bring it on!

WoolEater Update

I am just a few clusters short of 15 bands of colour. That is 30 rounds.

It is getting more and more awkward to photograph!

But still a long way to go until it is the 'right' size.

I really love working on this project, I love that it is for Miss Paradise, and that she is so happy with how it is coming along.
But, this is ALL I am working on.

So what do you do?
When working on a long term project do you have some breaks in between and work on something smaller - some thing that will give some instant gratification? Right now I just feel it is so long to go until I will be done. But I also feel if I put it aside for something else, something smaller then am I wasting time I could be spending on this.

the definition of irony....

my least favourite colour in the CAL ........butter........

will be the first colour I run out of!

(not really I have already bought the next round of each colour)

(NB, all colours are really off in the bathroom light - except.... yep... you guessed it.... the butter!)

life on the lake

I know most of my posts are about my wooleater here on the blog, but most of my photos are still of sunset on the lake.

We sure have had some doozy storms of late, but at the end of the day the sun shines through. Jodie

crochet is not a summer sport!

well not in my hot humid corner of the world!
still loving working on this wool eater project. Still not caught up - I am at 12.5 rows and it is approximately 60cm square, should be on 16 rows, with another 3 complete this Wednesday the 15th. Do I sound worried? Nup, I'm not.

Miss Paradise is still lovin' the colours - I am not totally sold on the 'butter', I expected it to blend in a bit more and be less dominate than it is.

We are already planning the accessories I will make to match.....Cushions, bunting, pen holders (crochet covered tins a la lucy) ..... we have already agreed this is her year, and Lil Sis will have next year. But I will start with the small stuff in the summer, and leave the blanket for the cooler months :)

Wool Eater Wednesday

I haven't kept up this week! This week's quota was three rounds, for me that would be light pink, turquoise, butter. I am just about finished the light pink round.

I love how it is looking, I still love this project and working on it.
I have been time poor this week and have been hooking any chance I get.

Here's hoping to a crochet friendly week!
